Aretha did not cover Natural Woman...Carole sent the song to Jerry Wexler and he gave it to Aretha...

A truly great singer is able to take a song, originally sung by someone else, and interpret it in his or her own way. I doubt that Paul Simon was upset with Aretha's version of Bridge Over Troubled Water or Carole King when Aretha covered Natural Woman. John Fogerty never complained about Tina's version of Proud Mary and Dolly Parton made 6 million bucks from Whitney's version of I Will Always Love You.

In no way did Aretha "wreck" this song. If you are not "comparing" the two versions, then how can you possibly say that she wrecked the song? That says that you ARE comparing them. This performance was one of Aretha's most memorable and she sang it beautifully.
