John Cleese & Michael Palin - 'The Parrot Sketch'

Duration: 05:33 minutes
Upload Time: 2008-02-22 12:04:00

This was the first ever performance in 'The Secret Policeman's Ball'. One of the essential comedy bits ever is just as hilarious live as it was in the Flying Circus. palin cracks up after Cleese delivers the line 'pining for the fjords' This was filmed live in 1976 as a part of Amnesty International's 'The Secret Policeman's Ball', also starring Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Peter Cook and many more...

Pining for the fjoooords?? One of the funniest skits I've seen, ever! All thanks to a scratchy VHS copy I rented years ago. and we'll never know why, but there seems to be a cut or an edit at 3:15, right after John says "This is nothing to laugh at."

Johns squeaky voice cracks me up so much! Its very sweet when mike taps his watch at the late people (and HOW sexy does he look here???)

That banging seems to derive from repressed rage over people bothering him about the Silly Walk.
