I thought the "We build excitement" started later, I don't remember seeing it once until at least my junior year in HS - 1984/85 (it was the biggest in the mid 80s). But apparently it was around a little earlier -- came out at the same time of this brand new 82 TA bodystyle (that would be an appropriately matched phrase for the new computer cars, I guess).
