Description: This is my new Geddy Lee jazz bass. I recorded the video then did a little jam on the bass with everything on full (both pickups and tone is on full too)Sorry for the craptastic angles. I couldn't really see what I was doing on my video camera, heh. |

Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-12-26 18:47:20 You know, I've always been interested by the Marcus Miller bass. I'm not sure I'd really know 100% whether I like it or not, until I could play one that doesn't have that annoying metal cover over the neck pickup - I hate that, since that's right where I rest my right hand. Anyhow, it does seem like a killer bass. __________________________________________________
darkside621 ::: Favorites 2007-12-25 18:25:09 The Marcus Miler sig sounds freakishly identical too. Good basses. __________________________________________________

9showdonttell1 ::: Favorites 2007-12-13 15:22:18 what is badass-bridge? __________________________________________________
Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-11-20 02:21:53 That's an accurate statement. For the most part, Geddy has typically recorded his bass without effects. - HOWEVER - he did use some signal processing on Test For Echo. A Sansamp (the RBI model, I think) preamp. Also, I'm thinking he was recording with his Avalon U5 tube direct boxes on Test For Echo. __________________________________________________
cygnusx211268 ::: Favorites 2007-11-20 00:15:49 I'm almost tempted to say that he used it without any effects on that record, but I can't be sure. __________________________________________________
Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 16:05:52 Yeah, it really does have that Test For Echo tone. I remember in 1996, hearing that album for the first time and wondering what bass he was playing. And then around 2000/2001 I caught Jazz Bass fever and had to get one. My life as a bassist has not been the same since. __________________________________________________
cygnusx211268 ::: Favorites 2007-11-10 20:51:41 Definitely is! The bass on it's own sounds exactly like the tone on Rush's Test For Echo record, for a better, or different indication of what it really sounds like. __________________________________________________
Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-10-25 00:31:14 haha..well thank you...I dunno if I'd call my knowledge "expertise"! but I think you're right. I think 105-45 is usually medium. I worked on a friend's bass a few weeks ago, and it had ridiculously high action because he put 110-50 strings on it. Those things were bridge cables! __________________________________________________
ShatteredDisplay ::: Favorites 2007-10-25 00:06:56 so I will defer to you expertise.. __________________________________________________
ShatteredDisplay ::: Favorites 2007-10-25 00:06:14 oh ..well Ive only been playing for 2 years and I was made to understand that the 105 was medium..I dunno __________________________________________________
Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-10-24 22:49:26 Sure does. It's nice to see a "signature series" instrument that really sounds like the artist's actual instrument, isn't it? __________________________________________________
Thompsongs ::: Favorites 2007-10-24 22:46:00 Oh, I see. I guess I consider that to be a slightly more heavy gauge of strings since I've been using 100, .80, .60 and .40 strings for years. The 105, .85, .65 and .45 strings are probably the heaviest strings I'd ever use. __________________________________________________
ShatteredDisplay ::: Favorites 2007-10-24 17:54:35 oh this is J3rdog ..I forgot I was signed in on my bands page..check us out man.. I use my geddy in a lot of em. __________________________________________________
ShatteredDisplay ::: Favorites 2007-10-24 17:52:34 no dude the stings are 105, .085, , .065, and .045 __________________________________________________ |
