Why should they stick to jazz, if they enjoy playing classical as well? I may be no expert on classical piano, but I certainly enjoyed it myself. If YOU don't like it, turn the channel.

I couldn't agree more, and I'm not even a pianist. When I listen to Jarrett improvise, I hear the closest thing to PURE improvisation (not memorized patterns, licks, etc.) of any jazz musician who ever lived.

cicillokakace: I agree with you about blind pianists concentrating fully on sound. It can be the same with listeners too, because often people are impressed by a pianist who is making a big visual display (like the pianist Lang Lang) but they are not listening to him with such attention because they are distracted by the visual element. There's an advanced blind classical pianist on YouTube, and the video has excellent sound quality too. Search for 'scriabin tragique' and you'll find it.

As a metter of fact a lot of blinds have more sense of music that the ones who can see, becouse their ears can put more attention on sounds. Nevertheless they have some "limitations" (sorry for the word) dute to the fact that they can't see the ands moving on the keybord, so they will be pianist of intermediate level, the same as the two playing mozart in the video! They should keep play jazz where the perfection of tecnique is not so important!

Playing with the music, or by memory, only shows your level of technical proficiency on any given instrument, but in no way can it show whether or not you are a musician. There are many pianists who have a better "technique" than Jarrett, but he is in a league of his own as a musician.

if we follow your argument a blind player is the non plus ultra. Music is a message made by blinds or deafs; that is to be heard by the dead ones (¿us?) try to understand the message because if you dont YOU R OUT!!
